Getting my steps in

Posted on September 9, 2018 by tpnstrong

I’m now post-op day 2 and feeling pretty good. I have minimal pain when laying in bed and standing, just have pain when moving from one position to another (laying to sitting, sitting to laying back). Yesterday they started me on oral Tylenol and they started my TPN last night. I try to walk at least a lap or two around the unit every time I get up to go to the bathroom. My watch roughly tracks distance (without GPS on) and I had over 2 miles yesterday and 0.8 miles so far today. Apparently others on this floor are to so eager to walk, because I have only seen one other patient walking while I have been out. All of staff are making comments about how much I am walking. I am allowed to shower today, but my nurse has been busy with her other patients and hasn’t had a chance to come in and disconnect me yet, but I am really looking forward to getting clean!

Vanderbilt has a good TV game! They have movies on demand, so yesterday I watched Spanglish, Home Again, Pitch Perfect, and The Intern. Now I am watching Secretariat. There are still several other movies that I would like to watch, so it is a good thing I have a few more days here! 🙂

I will likely be here until Tuesday so they can get all of my TPN orders sent and organized for me to have upon discharge. Here is a picture of me and my new little friend that Emmaline said should be named Fuzzy!
